PARAMPARA-Prarthana Sai Narasimhan - Shreya Devnath, KAP, BSP @Arkay - Aug 22 - Rec.

1. mOhanam vaRNam
2. SrI GananAtham - kanakAngi - Adi - tyAgarAja
3. ranganAyakam - nAyaki - Adi - dIkshitar

4. niravadhi sukhadA - ravichandrika - Adi ( Main!!!) - neraval & svarams @ mAmava maragata - tani

5. Hindolam Alapana - likely an RTP

Still listening,,,

The main in ravi candrika is the excursion into tyAgaraja's aesthetic extravagance - a detailed treatment - long after some jayantasEna by Hyderabad brothers in recent memory ( if you set aside all the 72 mela expositions)!. But for a tinge of nattakurinji and kambodhi ocassionally - the raga was held unique!

brings out the vidvat in Arun Prakash and B.S Purshottaman - in complete measure. tani had many sojourns like khanda nadai in slow speed ( 5 every 4 beats, 5 every two beats) and miSra nadai too!

This artiste is a boon sent! Persistent like P.V. Sindhu! And great support by Shreya Devnath and impressive return on the main!

https://youtu.be/PpCT8VQm86o?t=5142 is the khanDam in slow speed. I mistook it as caturaSra khanDam - sorry - fixed. It is arrived at by splitting the normal khanDam ( 5 mAtras per beat) over 4 beats as , 4 mAtras each and playing the boundaries only. And he goes down to 5 syllables over entire Avarta ( 8) as well further down to 5 over 16.

And it may not be miSra nadai, rather miSra split of khanDa naDai itself. Need to hear it again.

RTP is in miSra tripuTA , little finger 3/4th eDuppu (sundu viral mukkAl eDuppu). Arudhi kArvai is a short 3 , i.e. 6 mAtrAs.

The Lady must be complimented on giving a very good concert with able accompaniments. However I noticed that in Purandaradasa Compositions, the Pronunciation was improper and in fact lead to a different meaning.Instead of ASTHU JANMA SUKRutavo,it was ASU JANMA....This totally alters the meaning.
I appreciate the difficulty of singing compositions in an alien language.

https://youtu.be/PpCT8VQm86o?t=5588 is the miSRa kurappu for the 35 mAtras in khanDa naDai ( 7*5), starting with little finger, done as - 3*7 + (7 in slow speed = 14) = 35.

I believe she is from Karnataka and probably kannada is her mother tongue. I don't know what Esu in "Esu janmada" means. But I am guessing it means "eshtu" in old kannada. If someone can clarify that would be helpful. The lyrics is given as Esu everywhere I looked. Looks like there is also a 2nd akshara prasa which probably is why this word is used to form prasa with "daasa" in the second line. All singers have sung as Esu as well -- KVN, Sanjay and more importantly Vidyabhushana, who specializes in these things. Also this is a song by Kamalesha Vittala and not Purandaradasa.

dear all,

It looks that ESU and Eshtu mean the same thing.Eshtu Janmada Sukrutavo means Punya obtained many previous births. As every one has sung in the same way ESU,it must be correct.
But ESU can mean Jesus Christ also!
But it is in appropriate for this song.
