According to the Press Release,
"Government of India has notified issuance of Commemorative Coins of Rs. 100/- and Rs. 10/- denomination on the eve of Birth Centenary of Dr. M S Subbulakshmi.
"Commemorative Coins of denominations Rs. 100/- and Rs. 5/- have also been announced on the occasion of Birth Centenary of Dr. M G Ramachandran.
"Whereas the Rs.5 coins would be available in circulation in due course, the Rs.100 coin will only be available for collection."
I may add that usually Rs.100 coins are issued directly by the concerned Mint in Proof and UNC (Uncirculated) conditions. The cost of one Rs.100 coin in Proof condition would be around Rs.3500, and in UNC condition at around Rs.3100. The Mint would be releasing advertisements in national newspapers regarding the booking date, cost and method of remittance. Supply may be limited to one or two sets per individual. And the mint takes about three to six months to execute the order !

Re: Coins on MGR and MSS
It beats common sense ! If the coin is going to cost Rs.3,500 or 3,100 and is a collectors item, then why call it a Rs 100 coin ?! It should simple be a commemorative coin in memory of so and so.
When John F. Kennedy passed away in 1963, a commemorative silver Dollar coin was issued here in the U.S. in his memory at the face value of ONE Dollar only and was in wide circulation. In those days silver dollars , silver dimes ( ten cents coins) and quarters (25 cents) were made of almost pure silver and the silver content in the coins were only worth the face value of the coin. Later when the price of silver skyrocketed in the Seventies, these coins were replaced by alloys containing no silver ! People who had the original silver coins sold them for their silver content at prevailing price, as I too did !
The proposed silver Rs 100 coin is said to have 17.5 grams of silver content worth Rs 800 at the present price of silver. It is a misnomer to call it a 100 Rs. coin.
Inclusion of MGR also in the project is a ploy of shameless BJP to curry favor of the AIADMK to enter TamilNadu politics !
