Sanjay Subrahmanyan, Houston, TX

Post by sreebeecane »

Men in white are here!

1. First time in recent memory, Sanjay doesn't start with a rare varnam - Viriboni
2. Dikshitar's Kamalamanohari kruti
3. After Harvey comes a torrent of sangatis in the form of Janaranjani alapana. Crisp and short but beauty!

Laya ignoramus here.

But, seemed like a complicated pallavi in adi taaLam with ateeta eDuppu.

'Un darisanam kidaikkumo nataraja dayanidhe'

Ragamalika swarams in bahudari, kanada, chalanattai and sindhubhairavi. Lot of MMI patterns in Bahudari. Varadu played superb responses to ragamalika swarams.

Duraisaami Kavirayar's 'innum paramukhamEno' in Begada followed the pallavi.

Vettaveli thannil

[something in senjurutti]

Khamas tillana

Karpagame

Mangalam

Except for the forgettable hamsanandi, the concert was top notch!

Un Darisanam Kidaikkumo is a vintage Kalyani pallavi sung by GNB. MS Subbulakshmi would sing it in Dharmavathi.

I am glad there is more than one clear-headed member of the forum who shares my distaste for Hamsanandi.

melam72 & sreebeecane: Why do you find Hamsanandi distasteful?
I'm a blank slate, where CM is concerned, so I'm asking out of interest.
