Sanjay was deadly ....
Kanmozhi, the daughter of Karunanidhi attended the concert. He wisely took kAnadA and rendered, "Kaantimathi annai nee"
a papanaasam sivan kriti. In that song, the line goes.. "kaatharul karunanidhi" (காத்தருள் கருணாநிதி). He had taken the line and repeated 4-5 times. "Rasikas saw Godfather in his music. Kanimozhi saw father in his music".
Sanjay was again deadly...
In another concert, in the same venue, "Papanaasam sivan kritis", Durai murugan, (Ex Minister of DMK) arrived and stayed till tani. Sanjay took kaambodhi, as usual the fans, thought.. kaanak kan kodi vendum, or sikkal mEviya dEvA, I told them "Aadum deivam nee arulvAi"
I knew that song, had "Durai"... (tarum duraye, sabhai naduvil......)
When Sanjay sang "DuraiyE", he showed his hands towards "Durai murugan" and smiled.
I understood his smile. ...

An expansive Thyagarajayoga Vaibhavam,Chakkani raja with great tani by Neyveli Venkatesh and anirudh atreya.
Neyveli venkatesh is superb while S Varadarajan is melody personified.
A few sanjay mannerisms but a very wholesome concert indeed.

ram1999 is dutifully taking it to the next level and ascribing political motives (may just be a humorous comment without giving it too much of thought).

First of all, I don't think songs are selected based on which VIP has made it to the auditorium. Concert planning is serious business and happens well ahead of time.

It is quite possible that when words in the kriti coincide with people's names, Sanjay may point out to the person, especially when seated in close view (like even his accompanists sometimes).

"Adum deivam" is a great song which could be at par with "kaana kann kodi vendum" and Sanjay is doing his bit to make it more popular.

There are tons of common Sivan songs with the word "karunanidhi". To pick the hardly heard Kanthimathi song in kaanada at the sight of Kanimozhi needs a conspiracy theorist of the order of grsastrigal.

To carry Suresh’s reasoning one step further, I’m sure Sri Sanjay knows that the karuNanidhi invoked by Sri PS bears no resemblance to the “VIP” of the day’s father, even accidentally!!!

Plus if Kanimozhi is in the audience, he should be singing a song on her (I am sure there is a song with that name in the lyrics, but rshankar or arasi may be able to locate them sooner ). Not her father!

I'm sure (on the basis of knowing you on the forum for quite a while) you didn't expect all this when you wrote what you did, with no intent of blaming the singer of political buttering up. Correct me if I'm wrong.
As for kanimozhi, she has been attending Sanjay's concerts for quite some years. shouldn't forget that she was a student of vINA Kalpagam Mami. Supposing someone's name is Neela, should she walk out of the concert because Sanjay starts singing Arukkum aDangAda nIli?
