Today's fare included 2 out of the world alapanas - Vagadeeswari & Todi. Alapanas are highly original & ragas are approached laterally. Koteeswara Iyer's Nadanusantana was the kriti chosen for Vagadeeswari. Kali theera vandarul sukumara is ths kriti chosen for Todi.

Other songs included Enna punniam seideno in reethigowla & a highly improvised Unnadiye gati enru adaindhen in Bahudari.

But yes Sangeetha gave such a wholesome treat to the listeners at NGS for charsur. I was planning to listen to her MA but decided to skip Sandeep at MA to Charsur. Unfortunate that she doesn't perform regularly in Chennai. What I really liked about Sangeetha's music is she is clearly inspired by her guru's school, but presents it in her own inimitable style. Thodi some of the gamakas reminded of MLV. Again following the school, brighas were in alavu and there is clarity in it. Looking forward to her concert in MA this year. The list shows nattaikurunji as main. I haven't heard nattaikurunji so far in the season. Hope she maintains the same momentum at MA too

My mom attended Sangeetha’s concert. She was giving me live updates about this concert. She made me feel miserable for missing this concert.

Sangeetha’s detailed Thodi alapana had the touch of experience. In the gimmick-cluttered music of today, her presentation was marked by alavana brigas and full stamp of late MLV and Smt. Sudha. Mom was saying her Swaram was like a musical fountain ‘pravahama odithu‘

I had tickets for Malladi brothers down the road which I decided to sacrifice to be able to attend this. And in spite of some voice issues (and probably the high a/c setting), I was not disappointed.

The nerava/swaras in Todi was at Arumukha va adiyen padu tuyar kalai va was in misra chapu with ateeta eduppu. It was a fantastic roller coaster ride. Poongulam also showed off his brilliance here. Somehow these things stand out in SS concerts

Concert ended with the LGJ khamas tillana (the one with the Mas). Didn't realize there were two.

When Charsur comes up with a recording of this, it would be worthwhile just for the alapanas. Even the much abused Todi (by over use) sounds different. Vagadeeswari has so many loops in it to make your head spin.

kali theera in todi is very rare , not in circulation . Nadanusantana in vagadeeshwari I think SSI and BMK have sung,forgot that song - cannot even recollect right now . Sangeetha Swainathan also has a deep S kalyanaraman touch every where, I would assume even without attending that sangeetha may have given vaagadeeshwari its sunaadha vinodhan brilliance.
