I second you.
Carnatic music has the following irrestible ingredients:
A. Voice, Real acoustic instruments, in an ensemble.
B. Sruti and Laya, the two dimensions fundamental to music.
C. Lyrics which can be understood.
D. Bhaava or emotion, conducive to positive feelings.
E. Devotion that most can relate to.
F. A dynamic on the stage that is engrossing.
G. A traditional packaging of the art that appeals to our core of Indianness. Even a Jean's & sneakers guy and a salwar kameez girl will appreciate a well turned out saree/vesti/ornament set-up.
H. Obvious expertise built up over years of training that confers virtuosity.
I. A duration roughly the same as a movie session that works well for most people.
J. The way the stage and audience geometry is arranged, there is eye contact, no milling crowds, no glaring lights nor blaring mega speakers like in a rock concert.
K. A shared aesthetic experience you can enjoy for a long time.

I must add that Sid Sriram who has written in The Hindu is a master at miss-spelling Indian words like Nava siddhi, Kharahara, Baaro Krishnayya. So quaint.

Only because of the various ragas . The range of ragas available here is large .Their bhava and feel move me so much . And the manodharma aspect , of course .

KVC, if you meant Vasanti, it came off quite well.

I found N Bhargavi has a pleasant, bass voice. Her pronunciation is very emphatic. She seems to have prepared very well for the concert.
When I heard her pronunciation of Kannada words carefully over head-phones, there were quite a few errors. But I need to moderate my reaction keeping in mind the great effort she has put in, and the obvious difficulty in finding authentic sources for lyrics, and the natural difficulty for non-Kannada speakers.

One small correction: Kanakadasa did not sing about Chenna Keshava of Belur, but Adi Keshava in Kaaginele (spelt the way he mentioned the place in his songs) : Adikeshava Temple

I meant her sister Malawi. Is she not from the Bhairavi, Malawi sisters who sing together?

That Malawi is Malavi . Is Dr bhairavi referred here and bhairavi of malavi-bhairavi sisters the same ?i think malavi bhairavi dad used to write here . Not sure if we are talking the same malavi here.
