S.Aishwarya - NGS Mini Hall - 24.12.2017

Post by Vignesh Viswanathan »

Narada Gana Sabha (Mini) Hall
24-12-2017
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Kum. S.Aishwarya - Vocal
Smt. Dr.M.Narmadha - Violin
Sri.Sriram Srivatsan - Mridangam
Sri. H.Sivaramakrishnan - Ghatam.
Smt.Rama Venkatesh and Shri.Vignesh Viswanathan - Tanpura

1. Om Namah Pranavarthaya - Yaman - Dhakshinamoorthy Dhyana Shlokam
2. Ninnu Kori - Mohanam - Adi - Ramnad Sreenivasa Iyengar
3. Naadha Tanumanisham - citta ranjani - aadi - Thyagaraja
4. Vaa Muruga Vaa - Begada - roopakam - Spencer venugopal
5. Seethamma - vasantha - roopakam - Thyagaraja (Swarams at Seethamma)
6. RTP - jothiswaroopini (misra triputa)
7. Shantham Shaashwatham - sindubhairavi - Shlokam
8. Shri Rama Chandra - Sindu Bhairavi - Tulasidas
9. Kurai Ondrum Illai - Ragamaalika - Adi - Rajaji

An Energetic Start with Mohana Varnam at all three speeds like Agasthiyar Waterfalls followed by a splendid Begada Ragam followed by Vaa Muruga. Special Mention needs to be made for the effortless briga at tEn madura suvaiyE vaa. What a voice.

Wonderful Vasantha with brilliant Sangathis gave the Season feel and a kick start to the concert.

Aishwarya enthusiastically rendered a 45 mins RTP in a never handled Raga by her earlier - Jyothiswaroopini. What an amazing manodharma.
Aalapana showed Raaga Lakshana in a indepth manner. Thanam proved that this Raaga can also be "prayoged" as other Major Ragas for a RTP. Sancharam between sthayis were effortless as always for Aishwarya . Give her a new Raga, she shall handles the same with aplomb.
Pallavi : Guru Guha Ranjaneem Jyothiswaroopineem vanchitha theham.

Great round of applause for her swarakalpanam on the raaga followed in Raag Behag, Lalitha and Poorvi Kalyani.

Post concert rasikas came forward appreciating the RTP specifically.

The moment Sindhubhairavi started, Aishwarya rendered a very well paced TulasiDas Bhajan. Captured Hearts of Rasikas.

On request of Rasikas on Facebook, Aishwarya wrapped up the day with Rajaji's Composition.

Throughout the concert Dr.Narmada was a great support to Aishwarya. I understand that she is accompanying Aishwarya for most concerts this season. The understanding between them shows. Jyothiswaroopineem on violin took the mood of the hall into a karuna rasa. Hats off! Be it a Tisra nadai, misr chaapu kaala pramaanam or Varnam in a rapid third speed then jumping to first kaalam. Dr.Narmada and Aishwarya's voice were inseperable.

Master Sriram, (disciple of Umayalpuram Mali) - word of appreciation for his confidence and dedication. Such a concentration. Such a Naadam on his palms. Keen knowledge of Sruthi and perfection. Rasikas pointed out to his knowledge of Sabha lakshanam when he found his mridangam needed a surthi adjustment while Ghatam being played. He waited, made sure to tune the mridangam for adjustment when Ghatam did theermanam so that abha-sabhtham shall not be heard. This shows how importance he gives for the concert and his mridangam. My Pranams to his Father for his support and Encouragement to the Artist just the same Cienu Sir has for Aishwarya (was observed)

Sri Sivaramakrishnan gave an excellent Ghatam support .

The Hall was packed with Rasikas. Post concert, a Rasika brought a sketch of the artists on the stage and requested for autograph from Aishwarya.

Due to both personal and official commitments I have not been able to attend many concerts this season. I therefore felt blessed and happy that I could not only attend but also be a part of this special Aishwarya concert by playing the Tambura. Sri Cienu mentioned that the season has been great until now with Aishwarya singing different (new) ragas including an astounding Kokilapriya in Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha.

I understand that Aishwarya has 4 more concerts to go and my best wishes to her for a fulfilling season.

6. RTP - jothiswaroopini (misra triputa)
...

The 45 minutes should include tani too right . Kudos to young aishwarya in taking a a pallavi in a rare jyothiswaroopini. I just googled to find that TNS has taken once a jyothiswaroopini -nayaki pallavi and sowmya has also taken a pallavi in jyothiswaroopini. Aishwarya has learnt from jambukannan who is the disciple of TNS , possibly this idea came from there is my best guess.

From 45 mins with 9 mins tani it is 54 mins. Assuming the last 9 mins is the tukkada time that may give you your stated 63 mins . Thanks Cienu . For heavens sake this is not for statistics , it is more to say how much a musician can really sing or just chug along.

I do know based on few posts that.Sriram Srivatsan -Mridangam is based out of US (california i think). I did see that a photo where umayalapuram mali was with him. By any chance is his guru Umayalpuram Mali . Is Hemmige Srivatsan and Sriram Srinivasan related ??

Dear Rajesh
No .
Sriram is not related to Hemmige Srivatsan. You are right. He is based out of San Jose and is a disciple of Umayalpuram Sri Mali.

Just to clarify
RTP starting from Ragam to beginning of Tani : 54.mins
Tani : 9 mins
Total : 63 mins

Tukkadas were after these 63 mins

All concerts of S.Aishwarya will be on youtube once the season ends.

No. This was not sung by Smt MSS

Interestingly soon after the concert Dr Narmadha while applauding S.Aishwarya for the fantastic RTP asked her to learn Koteeswara Iyer' S "Gaanamrutha paanam" :)

It is good to see Aishwarya diversifying and 'exploring'.
