I have heard two distinct versions of this kriti Sri bhArgavI. Both of them treat the raga as a derivative of mAyAmALavagouLa.
One of them there is the usage of chyuta panchama = fallen panchama ~ which can be approximated to prati madhyama. So this version uses both varieties of madhyama. [ This is true with some other janyas of mAyAmALavagouLa like rAmakali, pUrvi etc, gouLipantu etc] composed by MD. And this is how the rAga is described in SSP. The usage of two madhyamas gives a distinct color to the rAga. Refer to SSP vol 1, page 148 - available at http://www.ibiblio.org/guruguha/sspone_click.pdf
The other version uses only shuddha madhyama and has to depend on the not so prominent vakra pryOgas, (and slower kAlapramANa ?) to be distinguished from mAyAmALavagouLa.

I think a version of the (now) M2 version was on the web somewhere (guruguha.org?)
During this navratri, I heard the other version (i think) - it did have a more nAdanAmakriya feel, slower kalapramANam too. Not 100% sure but I think it didnt have a M2 feel in it.
