"Tributes", spearheaded by Sri Vedanth Ramanujam held a program commemorating the life of Smt. T.V.Sundaravalli on Sunday evening at Arkay Convention Center. A booklet about her was distributed and there were a couple of moving speeches about her music and contributions. There was a music concert by Bhavya Hari before the program and another by Ashwath Narayanan afterwards.
It was a memorable program. Kudos to the organizers!

There is no review in the post. This appeared in FB:
Radha Bhaskar : "Bhavya Hari's concert for Parampara yesterday as a Tribute to her mother TV Sundaravalli was a soulful experience for the rasikas. To be honest, it did not have any of the flamboyance, glamour or frills that most concerts today showcase. As Sriram Parasuram rightly said in his speech, the music had "truth & integrity" & that is what made it so special. Bhavya's voice has a thin texture but the effortless way in which it flows so melodiously is truly wonderful. There was so much of earnestness in communicating the richness of the compositions & every piece shone radiantly. One of the rare concerts where the music stood very tall & not the musician !"

She started the concert humming some bars of Thodi. While I was waiting for the Varnam, she broke into the Tamil Swarajathi, which I had heard only once before when Sanjay sang it at the MMU a few years back as main. I was hooked.
