It was a working day. THis venue is very divine still maintaining the musical pristine feeling with right vibes .ThyagarajA idol being the main sannadhi and with 100 +year history where eminent musicians like HMB, ParurSundaram Iyer all have been nurturing this samAjam.Most importantly, the ambience is not destroyed with Air Condition , there is adequate space to hold many patrons . I must have attended atleast 8 to 10 concerts here and every concert had something to take away. Incidentally for many years the reach by road is quite tricky and too trouble some but I guess with the advent of a railway station Mundakaniamman temple in MRTS you atleast reach 20 mins late.With roads no way you can reach this place on time on any working day.

I have attended few Purandara dasar exclusive concerts only once or twice before , Bangalore shankar sang one in academy mIni and then possibly this is the one that I am attending after a long gap. Dasar krithis are not presented that high and even if presented they are combinations of excess obesiance and light tukkada to just show he is sangeetha audio casette pitamaha but he is hardly presented as a musical concert pitamaha.

Prior to my entry to this sabha, my mind was bit focussed on the last Pattabhi-NeyveliVenkatesh concert that I attended in my favourite sabha in chennai pozhichalur . Pattabhi is to me a great musician with a strong foot always rested with KVN and he surely takes a bit of swara kalpana fireworks entering more in the direction of SSI or a GNB.

As i entered Pattabhi just got started with a little racy todi alapana and i think he also sang a brief line of the krithi as a ugabhooga . Todi has extensive Pidis and he decided to present in a bit less gamakish fashion with little more speed and I liked it for most part , The neraval was a let down in todi it did not give a great todi swaroopam but in swaras he came with very intense classical ideas fully utilizing the firm and fast fingers of venkatesh . Kalyani alapana was very crisp and he kept it very very KVNish. The krithi was well sung with lovely neraval start and towards the end he slightly fizzled with excess gesticulation(athaTTAl in thamizh) . kalyani Swaras were well done the start was KVNish but the trajectory went surely away from that with racy patterns modeling a bit like GNB.

The tukkadas were all well done . I am hearing again and again his usual jagadOdharana but it gives so much of sowkhyam narayanaswami . THe subhapantuvarali was certainly the pick and he sang excetionallly well withhout losing the instrinsic bhava of an omnipresent pathos which adds exuberance to me as a rasika. THe last bhagyalakshmi bhAramma was not that fairappA , he rushed very fast and it appeared as a dasar bhajana seva mandali number

MAS violin was well done , i would not say that he brought in that much intrusion as some times he has the weakness . His play was very responsive and it helped immensely during the N and S. Venkatesh always showcases with energy , in today's concert circuit he is probably the one with fastest fingers and his patterns was layered with right cushion and it never sounds overbanged .

Pattabhi has to maintain the right posture . I dont care if any musician wears a dark multicolor jibba and even when he/she moves her hands and legs is somewhat fine . But Pattabhi has so much googly posture and the first rasika who always stays till every pavamAnA loses a lot of sangathis. When i meant the first rasika it is his microphone . At few places he even brings his whole mouth and neck away from the microphone. At those junctures, the violinist appear as the main artist. srimushnam raja rao spoke briefly post tani and prayed for more success for all artists.

Overall a very good concert for nearly 2 hours concert (I missed the first 20 mins)
