It is very similar to Malahari. There was a question asked on the sangeetham BBoard about this raga some time ago and there were the replies:
First reply:-
Accoding to http://www.nerur.com/music/ragalist.php, the following are the scales of kannaDa bangALa
kannadaban'gALa S R1 M1 G3 M1 P D1 S'/S' D1 P M1 G3 R1 S
Another reply:-
if i m to believe a buddying artist friend of mine, Quote. Kannada bangala has the same svaras of malahari but different in tempo and gamakas and nyasa svarams. Probably, like arabhi and devagandhari. Unquote.
I am also told, that the ragam if heard very frequently or for prolonged durations, can cause strokes of headache and induce migrane in people who are prone to it.

srinidhi,
Thanks!
Yes, I asked about this in Sangeetham too... I was wondering if anyone has sung any detailed alapanas... I have only heard one rendering in this raga, Dikshithar's "rEnukA dEvi" by DKJ... Rumor has it that TMT has also rendered it...
What are the other songs in this raaga? Any recordings? etc.. and more details about the raga itself will be great...
Honestly, when I first heard rEnukA dEvi, I was so addicted to the rAgam that I think it was repeated for more than an hour continously in Winamp!!!!
Cheers
