The only time I had heard this vidushi is in a thematic concert of Shyama SAstri when she sang along with gAyatri venkat.Did not get much to hear from that concert then,so one can consider this is as my first concert in hearing her live. A good and well settled tOdi gave a good start . The next was quite good , though phalamanjAri slipped to me as kAnaDA. Her voice did have an average strength in the alApanai and swarams of atAnA . But she sang very well in the the mmi famous krithi of nArada gAnalOla.

Muthuswami Dikshitar must have composed this kamlalAmba nava AvarnA krithi in sahAna as there was just so much spacing of hAm in every word(partial speculation). She sang a very good alApanai in sahAna in the right pace and followed with a very impressive krithi with the hAm spacing in every phrase embellishing the sahAnA . The rare nArAyaNi settled well .

A very good bhairavi rendition of alApanai followed with a nice rendition of swathi's krithi. Her neraval was just good in parts , felt her swara aksharam in bhairavi could be better. A surprise sarasa sAmadhana indicated that RTP may be there. Yes it was . She sang a very good rAga alApanai in poorvikalyAni. TAnam was sung very well. The lines of pallavi "apoorva paladha kalyAni parama pAvani bhavAni"was apt . Her swarams in poorvikalyAni (good) was followed by kalyAni (good) and malayamArutham (very good) .

I loved her darbAri kAnaDa and liked it a lot and this was my first experience of hearing this purandaradAsar krithi. The viruttam on Lord Muruga was good, especially the excitement of not ending in famous murugan krithi's in an often repeated behAg and Sindhubhairavi was nice . Liked her viruttam finish in bhAgeshri and her thiruppugazh was in the same rAgam.

The violinist L.Ramakrishnan (sishya of Smt kanyakumAri) was good , felt he was excessively using the female side of the violin. Loved the left handed mridangam artist(sankaranArayanan is sishya of rAja rAO), he always gives me an impression that he is consistently very good in the last few years.

Particularly liked Smt Amritha murali in taking a RTP ,even though the crowd was so thin.KudOs on that ,instead of cutting short the concert. Who knows , there was one chief patron of IIT in the crowd who may have influenced the RTP who appeared in :).

It was a very nice concert. Kum Amritha sang a concert in strict adherence to classism and it was treat to those who attended.

The sahAnA AlApanai was very moving and was very indicative of a grand kriti to follow. The navAvarNam was just the piece that could fit there. It was rendered with a lot of bhavam.

The main bhairavi AlApanai was very good. It was rather surprising to me to hear 'jananI mAmava'. the neraval and svarams at 'anupamIta kamalA vAsE dEvi' were done well.

The pallavi was also executed well. 'apUrva palada kalyANi parama pAvani bhavAni' 3/4 eDuppu. 4 akshara aridhi.

It is also refreshing to hear very clear diction irrespective of the language of the krithi.
With whom did she learn/learning ?
