Is it G.Ramanathan who scored the music- I am not sure. The DKP version is never popular- even DKP or DKJ has not sung them in concerts very frequently.

The music director was C.R.SUBBURAMAN.
It was sung as a part-duet by M.L,Vasanthakumari. I wish that she had sung it as a separate record. If we google, it always comes with a dance ( my pet hatred...bete noire ('a person or thing that one particularly dislikes.')
That is why I avoided it. MLV for all her great talents should have strictly avoided being a playback singer in films for all types of scenes. ( DKP was very meticulous in that respect). The wiki pontedly mentions how GNB was dissuaded in singing the duet with MLV.
The ragamalika of course is very sweet.

The theme of the song is so evidently the pride of a father for his pet baby daughter. It is unbearable that anyone can give a romantic twist to the theme, if at all they know Tamil.

In my schooldays, it was the DKP record of this song that was widely known and loved. Ofcourse, the film version was popular for quite unrelated reasons!
In how many concerts had Smt.MS sung her masterpiece 'mammum imayamalai'? what is the yardstick?

RSR, Mannum Imayamalai- There is only one version. MS has not sung that song in many concerts. True. Nobody else also sings that song.

Chinnamchiru kiliiye- Very popular song. Every body sing the song- But only the film song version. That is what I meant. Thank God, there are no other versions.
