pUrvikalyANi Alapana was very impressive along with a kriti rendition where she showed her mettle handling the take offs and syllables expertly. pUrvi kalyANi reply by Ananthakrishnan was even more sublime and scholarly. The neraval took it to heights and she ended with a vervy mElkAlam without doing svarams.

kamas Alapana, she impressed everybody! She utilized catchy split syllables to ascent and descend and many phrases from popular kritis. tAnam was relatively shorter.

tani by Sai Giridhar was explosive with miSra naDai in the variation.

This is was a devotee audience mostly and she managed to provide an authentic CM fare with some appealing bhakti sangeet.

A note on certain places in pURvi kalYani - the dwelling on ma-pa in a certain way took it to gamanaSrama ( based on my listening experience with Dr BMK and U Shrinivas) . Ananthakrishnan in his reply I noticed stuck to ma-da-pa.

Theory: Could it be due to the samvAditva of gamakas phenomenon where a light dwelling on ma-pa leads one to hear ni-sa moving it closer to gamanASrama?
