Just am not able to move past the first mmg sri nAthAdhi [email protected] sundara swarUpO. A monument of/to sangItam. Dikshitars genius, 3 diff schools of musicians bringing their own inimitable sowkyam, listen to the sarva laghu at the swarams for example, all combine to bring to one a tangible edifice of happy infused with a sense of melancholy.

What a fabulous Kurinji. Sung with a delectable sweetness of voice and matched by mellow accompaniment. Sumitra cast a spell indeed. Now I can't go back or forward....

A very good concert keeping up with her lineage and vidwat. But the Kurinji kriti- Sree Venugopala- The varnamettu was much different from what I have heard from other vidwans. Here is the link to MLV singing the song.

I didn't notice any significant difference other than kaalapramanam.CRama wrote: ↑08 Nov 2018, 08:31But the Kurinji kriti- Sree Venugopala- The varnamettu was much different from what I have heard from other vidwans. Here is the link to MLV singing the song.

Main difference is that it was not sung in madhyama sruthi. To my knowledge, this was adapted from Pradarshini.

kurinji (srI vEnugOpAla), udayaravichandrikA (srI guruguha mUrthE), mAdhavamanOhari (mahAlakshmi), bhUpALam (sadAchalEshwaram), dhanyAsi is the progression so far. Wow!
