Keyboard is certainly a superior instrument to accompany Veena as opposed to Violin. Amply demonstrated at BVB this season.

Rasikas boots me out if I try a longer post on my mobile. So pardon the telegraphic one liners!

Some other things one can learn from Rajesh:

1. Has a dedicated audio technician, Kumar, who monitors/adjusts as needed. Gives him props during/after concert.

2. Announces the name of all the co-artistes on stage

3. Volume was kept under bearable limits

4. Sang the pallavi

Usually instead of the Keyboard accompaniment, he has a couple more percussion artistes who contribute greatly to the overall noise level. This was much better.

Suresh and others,
If you want to enjoy the music of the veena and violin in concordance and harmony, I have a secret to pass on to you.

Strings Attached. Jayanthi+Kumaresh.

They broadcast in 100.1FM two days ago a fine live programme by the duo from Sangeet Sammelan. It was highly enjoyable.

You can copy your post before submitting your longer post, and then paste it on your new editor after login.

Also if you get booted out before copying, hitting the back- button will take you to your intact post which you can now copy.

Hitting the back button twice immediately upon re-login will also take you back to what you composed and now since you are actually logged in, you can quickly post, even though the screen does not reflect that you are logged in.

All this works for me, been using my ph for ages now. Not great, hope this will get fixed. I mentioned it under "Troubleshooting."

I had always wanted to hear him, since he seems to be amazingly talented. But apart from playing some stock songs here at the Hanuman temple, his volume was unbearable and he was very resistant to our requests and didn't seem to care. So this surprises me, but if this an intentional change, it is a welcome one.

Somehow am not a fan of his music. I couldn’t listen for long ...
I am disinclined to call it Carnatic music - probably modern day fusion. More inclined to music of Balakrishna, jayanthi, Srikanth chary and Ashwin when it comes to the Carnatic Veena. Veena should be left alone - not even the violin should accompany

Agreed with above post #15. A great talent wasted ! VeeNa with key board , western drums and tabla ?! Tastes do differ and he has his own fans ! Now a days anything goes as Carnatic Music.

A well tuned, well played, veena with minimum electronic effects and the metallic resonance of strings is a complete experience. Percussion is an option. Anything else adds to the sound (noise?), and detracts from the splendour of the pure veena sound.

I asked you people to watch Ustad Dagar Rudra veena episode in "Harmony with Rahman" series (Amazon Video Prime).
That is a rare experience.

Thank you for the tips. I learned some of these things by trial and error and I have made note of the others. It is much easier when I am on wifi and this happens only with rasikas. So I wish they fix it. Was wondering why others are not reporting this issue so I feel blessed that you are going thru' the same pain :D
