before the marughelara,
here is a track which is so symbolic of this artists simple uncluttered approach.

Even the article and his thoughts are so beautiful for their charm and simplicity.

Enjoy this track. It is just like the man.

Coolji, do you have the deatails of pakka vadyams? like the violin here....very good playing.

coolkarni

Post by coolkarni »

unfortunately no..wish i had the info..
humdinger
Most of these recordings (very little though) were acquired as bits and crumbs over a very very long period. So that explains the lack of info.
Otherwise i generally have the practice of storing these details as well as putting them up too.

And you make nice gift pack of them and present it to all we yearners....! Thanks again.

Its just that i loved the violin in that kharaharapriya...wanted to know who is the player.

My Mom says that even as a very young kid , i would say that I would like to grow up and run a Candy Store.
It is so wonderful to eat candies.
It is far more wonderful to see the joy on the faces of people coming for candies..
So much so that my philosophy has always been derived from this small passage...
Of all the dear sights in the world, nothing is so beautiful as a child when it is giving something.
Any small thing it gives.
A child gives the world to you.
It opens the world to you as if it were a book you had never been able to read. But when a gift must be found it is always some absurd little thing, pasted on crooked…. An angel looking like a clown.
A child has so little that it can give, and so it never knows it has given you everything.
Maragret Lee Runbeck
Or for a more pictorial image
Just the way TV Sankaranarayans Eyes meet anyone walking into the auditorium...So welcoming...

Mohanam....it is but short of a full scale alapana, but what a beauty..... gorgeous sangathis balanced with careful use of brighas...tough to do yet so simple in structure...reminds me so much of KVN's method to an alapana structure.

Elegant maximization of his voice, shAreeram and shareeram....no attempt to exploit....:)

Many thanks!

Coolkarniji....may your tribe increase...

Thank you Cool ji for that delectable Harikambhoji. How many times do we get to hear a decent alapane in Harikambhoji.

All the audio links have expired. Can someone please tell me how I may download Vid S Shankar's clips? I am one of his erstwhile students, who had to discontinue due to locational constraints.

Eagerly awaiting.
Skanda.

Hi,

I am delighted to see a thread about my guru. I have been learning under Vidwan S.Shankar for almost a year.
He lays a lot of emphasis on swara shudhi and diction. His style reminds me of the great KVN.
I feel so fortunate to be learning under such a proficient but simple and down-to-earth person.

Regards,
Kumar.

Sridevi:
Thank you for offering to do so. I would be delighted to have some way of downloading the files. Rapidshare somehow proves to be very finicky - and does not oblige most of the times.

yousendit.com should perhaps be fine.
