It was a sublime concert at Karthik Fine Arts this afternoon

Khamas is a bright ragam to kick start a concert and the sisters sang an energetic Mathe Malayadwaja followed by Ganamurthe.

Lathangi Ragam was expounded in scintillating fashion with all the trade mark brigas. She moved into the Gandhara with ease. In spite of a severe cough which followed her intermittently Aishwarya's voice was able to hit perfect notes.

Pirava Varum of Sivan was taken up next
and the Neraval at the Anu Pallavi - Pirava Varam Tharum Pirandhalum Thiruvadi was done exceptionally well followed by swarams in second speed

Santhana Manjari was a delightful filler before the main composition Merusamana

Mayamalavagowla was sung brilliantly and Merusamana was given a Grand treatment which a composition of that magnificence deserves.

Neraval was taken at Ganamula Sobillu and done in considerable detail. Dr Narmadha was fantastic in her support.

The taniavartanam was by Sri Arjun Raghavan and Sri H Sivaramakrishnan was short but splendid.

Arjun is a youngster based in North Carolina and a disciple of Vidwan T H Subash Chandran

Saundarya surprised all with a short but sweet virutham before Yaduvamsha.

The concert ended exactly at 3.50PM, 10 minutes before scheduled time.

I attended this concert partially. It is gratifying to note that Aiswarya and Soundarya are steadily increasing their repertoire. Pirava varam tarum is not sung by MS Amma. What impressed me a lot washer will power and sticking to the values in spite of recurring dry cough. She had a cough after each sangati, but that never made her to compromise on any thing. Mel kala sangatis, brighas, gamkamas, everythging had its place . I even felt she could have gone a bit softer on these. But she was steadfast. Mayamalavagowla alapana- which rarely you can hear was done in a very scholarly manner in a step by step method.

Dr. Narmada was a great support. Her alapanas of Lathangi and MMG and swara returns were most appropriate and inspiring.

@cienu When this season is all done and dusted, tell Aishwarya to go on a complete voice rest with nothing but silence, kaarvai singing and basic stuff at the most till that infection is gone. And no travel. If this coughing fit keeps going further, it could cause problems. The voice will get better when it completely recovers.

Also watch out for allergies. An air purifier and a Honeywell face mask was a godsend for me in Delhi. I had burning lungs, hay fever everyday along with frequent flu attacks till I did this. If possible put one (a Honeywell model) in your car.

Thank you Srinath for your valuable advise. :)
The good news is that we had visited an ENT specialist in Bengaluru around 10 days back who did confirm that her vocal chords are in fine fettle.

As the season for Aishwarya & Saundarya comes to an end on the evening of 1st Jan 2019 (6 15 to 8 45 pm) at RA Puram Bhaktha Jana Sabha (Sringeri Mutt - Mandaveli) , the virus too is on its last legs.

There will be a month of complete rest before her next concert which will be on Feb 1st 2019 at Pune.
