It was a wonderful concert from the team that vouched for their dedication, expertise, manodharmam and home work. Ashwath Narayanan presented a good selection of songs from a wide variety of tamil composers from Pattinathar to Lalgudi Jayaraman. Two ragams- Poorvikalyani and Natakurinji were presented very beautifully revealing their myriad hues with the choicest phrases, with the sprinkling of rounded gamakams and lightning brighas in sufficient manner. The kritis were rendered in the appropriate kalapramanam to bring out the sahithya bhavam effectively. The Ragamalika virutham Nallar inakkamum is a favourite of DKP and he announced that he is presenting this as a respect to the Doyen whose centenary is being celebrated now. Ashwath excelled in bringing out the raga bhavam of all the ragams in the virutham most aesthetically and presented the Tevaram revealing the bhakthi quotient effectively.

Vadvarayai Mathakki- is rarely heard by musicians other than from the MS family. He presented that true to the original by MS.

Mysore Srikanth played with lot of sensitivity. His alapanas and swara returns reflected his manodharmam and the tone of the violin and sense of proportion was commendable. Delhi Sairam and S. Krishnan embellished the concert to a great extent. Sairam’s following the kritis and his energetic tani avarthanam was enjoyed by the large audience.

An excellent concert for two hours and ten minutes.
