sAmagAna = chanting of the sAma vEdam
priyE = one who likes/delights in
sakala = entire
lOkESwarI = ISwarI/Cheiftain of the (entire) world (lOka)
sarvEsha = The ISa (lord) of all (sarva) - Siva
mOhanAngI = damsel with alluring/captivating (mOhana) limbs (angI) - a beautiful woman
sadA = always
pAlinI = she who protects
sAmajadharESa = (of) the one who bears/lifts up (dhara) the sAmaja (it means elephant) Lji I wonder if this should be 'sAmaja varESa' and not dharESa - because then it would refer to the gajEndra mOkSa episode... IN ANY CASE this word combo refers to vishNU

mahiSAsura = the demon who could transform himself into a buffalo

From what I can recall, long ago when I listened to the track, the charanam (uttaranga) was "navarasa..." and that's it (just as the lyrics above). But the meat of the uttaranga in a varnam is the alternating charana swaras and sahityas, which this varnam lacks. I'm on a mac now, and for some reason, I can't play the file on my realplayer... so can't confirm what I remember!
I am positive, though, that the same artists shortened the Ranjani varnam (I have the complete version of this). They could have very well shortened the Hindolam as well (i.e. there are probably swaras and sahityas that have been cut from the uttaranga).
