A very beautiful and sublime veena music on display by the duo! Take a listen to the concert. Highlights for me were Akilandeshwari in Dwijavanti, Vazhi Maraithirukkudu in Nattaikurinji, and Meenakshi Memudam in Purvikalyani. Also a superb taanam by the duo.
Such sensitive accompaniment by the percussion team too of Mannarkoil Balaji and DV Venkata Subramaniam!
What a pleasure it must be for the grandmother to share the stage with her granddaughter! A proud moment indeed for the Vidushi after having trained her granddaughter in the art form!
Thanks to Kedaram and Parivadini for bringing such programs!

Totally. Am here at Raga Sudha Hall now listening to another concert of the duo. Special kudos to young Charulatha who is playing magnificently. That veena almost looks too big for her at first, but once she puts her hands to it, wow.

Even better than the concert a few days ago!
Young Charulatha has real musical imagination and flair. She does not just echo her grandmother but has her own creativity. Wonderful to see in one so young.

I am yet to hear this concert. Yes Charulatha's music maturity is beyond her years. Her small fingers do a tremendous job of translating those ideas into music on the strings.

Got to listen to this concert in its entirety! Beautiful playing by the duo. Choice of krithis and raagams was very good! Enjoyed the kharaharapriya. The beauty of Lalitha Raagam was brought out so well on the veena by Vidushi Jayalakshmi. It was haunting! Charulatha played very well. Best wishes!

Nadasudha,
Good to get the review from you
I could watch some of it. The veena looked overwhelming before the little one starting playing it. In seconds, she showed us the command she had over the instrument. Charulatha played it with such ease! Before the varNam was over, we saw how collected and focused she was with what she was playing, keeping tAlA elegantly and surely, glancing at her grandmother for cues, if there were any. She didn't need them! That was how relaxed she seemed. All the time, her focus was on what she was playing. Her rAgA snippet of vAchaspati after her veteran grandmother played it was impressive. The aTANa they played had such gAmbhIryam. Want to listen to more tomorrow.
How we love it when the family continues its musical tradition! The best to Charulatha and our salutations to her guru/her dear pATTi

Smt Jayalakshmi is so proud of her little granddaughter. I think that nothing would make her happier than to see the student become greater than the teacher!
