DR. VIJAYALAKSHMI SUBRAMANIAM- RTP CONCERT IN AIR

AIR, Madras A aired the special RTP concert by Dr. Vijayalakshmi Subramaniam on 12 July 2019 at 9.30 P.M. Dr. VS commenced the programme with the Thyagaraja kriti Paraloka sadhaname manasa in the ragam Poorvikalyani and suffixed with a few rounds of kalpana swarams. The main suite- RTP was in a combination of Bhairavi and Mohanam set to Khanda Triputa talam. The pallavi sahithyam was Kamale kamalanayane kamalahridaye Devi Namaste. It was a grand delineation of all elements of the pallavi within the time available. The alapana, tanam, neraval, were executed in Bhairavi and Mohanam intelligently followed by swara prastarams in both the ragams. The seamless glides between the ragams were commendable. Dr. Narmada on the Violin, Shertallai Ananthakrishnan on the Mridangam and K.V.Gopalakrishnan on the Ganjira embellished the concert to a great extent. The programme concluded with a Ragamalika slokam and the Swati Tirunal Tillana in the ragam Dhanasree. A memorable concert indeed.
