Sandra - is there an audio link for this introduction? Some of the words you have transcribed don't make sense to me.

OMG !
This is a collection of lines from various songs !

Sandra - my attempt :

Context : In all "Kuravanji" poetry, there is a heroine, a noble lady, who sees the hero, (Lord Shiva of Kutralam in this case) go on a procession and falls in love. During her pining, a Kura-vanji (gypsy beauty) arrives and after introducing herself (as belonging to the tribe that owns all the prosperous mountains, that gave its daughter Valli to Muruga etc) , she then proceeds to see the heroine's palm, praises her highly, and foretells her good fortune, of going to marry the Lord who has stolen her heart. She is then showered with gifts by the heroine, and leaves happily.

vanji vandal - The lady (slender as a creeper) arrived.
malai-k- kura vanji vandal - The gypsy beauty from the hills arrived.
vanji vandal tirikuta ranjita mohini munne - the lady arrived before Vasantavalli , the charming lady of Trikuta(Kutralam).
minjiya viraha noyikku sanjivi marundu pole - (she arrived) as the Sanjeevini herb to cure the disease of excessive pining (of Vasantavalli)

The Kuravanji's claims: (Amme means mother, and is just an affectionate address to the young heroine)
kaila malai ten malaikku vadakku malai amme - O mother, Kailasa, which is to the north of the Southern Hill (Pothigai hill)
kanaka maha meru yena nirkkum malai amme - Meru, that stands tall as the golden mountain,
*saila malai ten malaikku vadakku malai amme - Sahya hills that are to the north of the Southern Hill (Pothigai hill)
sakala malai yen malaikkul adakkam yen amme - All these hills are lesser than my hill.

This line was there in the Tamil script and I guess it is sayya malai which is the Tamil way of saying Sahya. Sailamalai does not make sense, since both words mean the same.

(In those hills)
kizhangu killli ten eduttu valam padi nadippom - We pluck tubers, collect honey and dance as we sing about the prosperity of our hill.
kimpuriyin kombodittu vembu tinai idippom - We break the elephant's tusk and use it to pound boiled millets.
veduvargal tinai vidaikka sadu punam torum - In all those fields where our hunters go to sow millets,
vindai akhil kumkumamum chandanamum narum - the amazing aroma of fragrant wood, saffron and sandal are found

yenna kuriyagilum nan solluven amme - I can foretell any kind of event.
sadir yeruven edirtta perai velluven amme - I can take on an assembly and win over everyone with my arguments.
mannavargal meccum oru kuravanji nan amme - I am a gypsy girl who even kings value.
endran vayittrikku ittanai podum kanji varu amme - All I want is a little(food) for my stomach. Give me some gruel, O mother.
