K H Vineeth plays an octave lower. For sharp voiced musicians, this seems a good option - and the sound is good. With nuts and bolts it seems, one does not have to carry it around in a rainy day around Mylapore streets . As was claimed by accompanists of MDR, in private talks - this one is not the Tanjore Marathi Grundig Tape collector. Another insider of a prominent musical family.
Thanks for posting this Shankarank.
Could you please explain a bit more? I think you are making a good point suggesting mridangam for female vocalists singing in Asharp or A shruthi. It is usually very hard to find a mridangam for A or A sharp shruthi - that's what I have seen in my experience.
What exactly has Vineeth ji done here ? can you tell please what shruthi mridagam he is using for this concert?
thanks
It is A-Sharp when comparing with Tanpura App. It is rare or unheard off to have the Mridangam tuned to the lower octave Sa. In dance to have effect, they many times use the pancama for a male singer - I have been told by one troupe of artists.
