1) sadam -> It is shaDam / சடம். To be precise, ஜடம்.

2) ivvuDam piRandAl -> It is ivvuDampiRandAl or ivvuDampu iRandAl. இவ் உடம்பு இறந்தால்.


ஜடம் பிறந்த பிறகு புரிந்த தவம் ஏதும் இல்லை ! அவமே பெரிது !
இவ் உடம்பு இறந்தால் வரும் உடல் ஏதோ ? உணர்கிலேன், அந்தோ !
சங்கடம் நிறைந்த உலக வாழ்வில் கலங்கவைத்தல் நீதியோ ?

Ravi, I was wondering if “sadam” could mean “Jadam,” and PB seems to confirm that.

In that case, do you still think it should be translated as “soul?” The Atma is not ever considered to be jadam, it is the body which is said to be jadam (even in life). Could the line refer to the birth of the body? Does thAt change the rest?
