That, there (andO) is my difficulty (sankaTam). Is it just (nIdiyO) to let me cry (kalangavaittal) [4] in this worldly (ulaga) life (vAzhvil) (I have been) born into (piRanda), Oh preceptor (guruvE) of the one who was born (piRandOn) in a pot (kuDam) [5]?

Ravi, I was wondering if “sadam” could mean “Jadam,” and PB seems to confirm that.
In that case, do you still think it should be translated as “soul?” The Atma is not ever considered to be jadam, it is the body which is said to be jadam (even in life). Could the line refer to the birth of the body? Does thAt change the rest?
