Translation:
pallavi
shAnta - O Serene one!
ahimsAmUrtE - O Embodiment of non-violence!
samudita samarasa kIrtE - O One with the fame of having established equamity !
sandisha mE - Instruct me (on how to acquire)
shAnti shAnti shAntim - peace.
Anupallavi
bhavAn - You
karOti - do/cause
parama hitam - great welfare!
patita janAvana - O Protector of sinners!
nirupama sukhadO (a)si - You are the giver of incomparable bliss,
bhagavan - the Lord,
mahAn - a great person,
sthitavAn - residing
nirmala hrdayE - in pure hearts.
CaraNam
bhAsi - You shine
bhArata dEsha pitA - (as) the father of Bharatam,
ajnAna timira savitA - (as) the Sun to the darkness of ignorance.
sutarAm bOdhitA - Well and long instructed
bhavatA - by you,
janasamatA - equality among people
bhAvita hi - shall indeed happen!
asi - You are
sAra sakala shubha dAtA - the giver of the essence and of all good,
sukrta svarAjya vidhAtA - the achiever of Independence through (your) good deeds,
mAtA dhAtA pitA sakalam - mother, creator, father, everything,
mAnita vishvanEtA - respected world leader.
Comments:
1. parama hita karOhi - should be parama hitam karOti
2. The entire song is in Second person, except this part of the Anupallavi "parama hitam karOti bhavAn" which, though intended as second person, is in the respectful third person.
