Very well liked duo by many like my Mother and her generation. Infact their reach was through mostly the media down south, as not many concerts of famed artists happened within our reach.
Condolences to the family and near and dear. Om Shanti.

Sad to hear and sincere condolences to the family. Quite a few of these sisters contemporaries who studied carnatic music in mumbai did settle towards teaching music but most of them did not become that known performing musicians.
These sisters must have been perhaps the first set of professionals who took a plunge from mumbai to chennai for the sake of CM.Their juniors many of them followed , for sure they have to be credited for doing that reverse home base for the sake of music . In the below article i see one is an expert more known for the first 36 suddha madhyama ragas and the other for the second half prati madhyama ragas, i never knew this angle till the below write up.

Brilliant artists and great patantharam. Their Lalgudi Pancharatnam rendering was something special.shankarank wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 21:58 Very well liked duo by many like my Mother and her generation. Yes, Shankarank. They were popular in my generation and perhaps were the first from Bombay to make a mark in Chennai's CM scene, preceding Aruna Sairam and RAga sisters in popularity. When you say media, all we had to start with was the radio and they were heard often. Then with the cassettes too. We heard them on our road trips, and their "innu daya bAradE" stands out in memory. Pleasing voices, no airs...
