Another nice concert. SGC is to Carnatic Music is like K. Balachander to Indian Cinema. Whoever gr8 people comes, he has his own group of fans. He has an excellent marketing skill. His pairing up with Anil Srinivasan, his ‘de-coding Ilaiyaraja songs” and “jannal Oram” have huge rasikas.
At the same time, he never confuses these with while singing Carnatic Music. AgmArk rendition. He knows his limitations while singing. His rasikas also know this and like the way he presents his songs.
His song selections were good. He brought MMI through umAbharanam SSI through Pankaja lOchana and Mah Santhanam through his Basant bahAr kriti.
I first listened Uma bharanam kriti through an audio cassette of MMI. Oophs. He rendered a sweet swaram in “Sruti sAstra purAna…..”. Oophs. MMI is MMI. The only man whose rasikas assemble once in a month and listen his “kAna kaN kOdi vEnum” – 1000 th time. ……..
Very nice concert and the Tani was bit long but excellent. Violin, as I said earlier, is excellent.
