Sambhandar lived all of 16 years during which period he performed miracles and established shaivism with unshakable foundations while his contemporary Tirunavukkarasar (aka appar) lived a full life of over 80 years. There is an episode where appar volunteered to be one of the carriers of the palanquin in which Sambhandar was riding. It boggles the mind to think that Sambhandar wrote over 4100 verses at such a young age. Appar has about 3000 verses to his credit.
I wonder if Sambhandar's tEvaram stanzas are sung in regular kriti format by anybody rather than just as vruttams.
