OK, it is not going to be exact since some words are hard to translate but let me give a try.
One can:
1. tame a huge (strong) wild elephant (kandugam means a post to tie the elephant or it could mean here a pillar to describe the size of the elephant).
2. control a bear's or tiger's roar
3. ride on the back of a lion
4. make good use of one's intuition (kaTcevi = intuition; it is my educated guess)
5. melt and transmute base metals (using red hot fire in an oven) into precious metals such as gold and sell it for food or other benefit.
6. traverse the world without anybody noticing
7. command the celestials
8. stay youthful forever
9. transmigrate into somebody else's body ( like tirumUlar did when the cowherd boy died. He got into his body, led the cows home. When he came back he could not get back into his old body because people cremated the remains--that is another story altogether)
10. walk on water
11. sit on fire
12. attain success beyond one's capability
but it is very difficult to control the wandering mind to stay calm.
Oh, effulgent Lord you occupy my mind all the time to offer me bliss.
Couple of points such as 4,and 12 may need refinement.
One can:

I wonder why my dictionary does not have an entry for kaTcevi.
Now looking at Bharathi's song titled vinAyagar nAnmaNi mAlai, he writes, "uTcevi tiRakkum, ahakkaN oLitarum....kaTcevi tannaik kaiyilE eDukkalam....". When I was guessing the meaning the "uTcevi tiRakkalam ahakkaN oLitarum" flashed across my mind and I fell victim to that trap. I thought kaTcevi could be split into kaN + cevi.
Perhaps there is an implication there that the snake "listens" through its eyes for it to be named kaTcevi!
Now explain that line "tannigaril siddi peRalAm" for me. I was not sure of what I wrote.
Also what about item #3 about the lion. Could it also mean "one can carry a lion on your back" (mudugin mERkoLLalAm)?

tan nigar il siddhi. here the epithet "matchless" applies to siddhi rather than the person, perhaps refers to the aShTasiddhi.Now explain that line "tannigaril siddi peRalAm" for me. I was not sure of what I wrote.

Two sayings come to mind. Tying up the lion and carrying it on one's back: kokku thalaiyil veNNai vaiththu adaip piDippudu pOl (an easy way to catch a stork is to put a pat of butter on its head and while it melts into its eyes blinding it, catch it).
mahakavi's 'Will bring two bowls and we can both have soup reminds me of: nI aval koNDU vA, nAn umi koNDu varEn, iruvarum Udi Udith thinnalAm (You bring the flaked rice, I would bring chaff for my share, and we can both blow the chaffaway and enjoy them)...

I like to get raw peanuts (available in the south here in NC and Georgia as well), microwave them for a minute or so, remove the steaming peanuts, crack open the shells and keep on eating. One of the palatable pleasures indeed! As for the aval too, better to mix it with umi (husk), then winnow it well and then eat the aval perhaps with a bite of a piece of coconut and/or vellam(jaggery). Another pleasure! This way we do some labor and then enjoy the fruit of the labor. Right?

Thanks for all your contibution. I have taken enough for my bowl !!! The beauty of this Vridham is its strong dose. Some of his phrases are impossible, some we have heard and some are not viz.
Possible
1) Taming of the Elephant (Can see in Kerala with more elephants.- It went opposite in Kerala two days ago !!!!!)
2) Tieing the bear and Tiger (saw plenty in National Geo)
3) keep a dead Lion....on your back (Not a big deal. We will know from Salman Khan like poachers how to kill a Lion !!!!
4) "Magudi-Snake"--We have seen plenty..
5) Panchaulogam-We can see all our "Porkollars (tamil) do that. Ulogam, here, means Gold.
Not possible-
1) Go around the world without noticing
2) Kanal mel irukkalam (stay on fire). It is possible to walk on Fire (Theemidhi, in Tamil)
3) Stay youthful for ever.
Only heard
1) Command Celestial bodies.. For Ex: Ravana controlled all universe. Mahabali controlled the entire Universe.
2) Tranmigrate into another body. Mahakavi is right. Adishankara is another example.. In Tamil "Koodu vittu Koodu paivadhu"
3) Walk on the water- Padmabhadhar,, Shishya of Adhishankara. We all know the story.
4) Thannigaril (la) Siddhi... So many Rishis...We can even take "Pariikshit Maharaja" Ex. after 7 days of Srimath Bhagavatham from Saint Sukar, he moved straight to sidhi..
Stay youthful for ever- might come on 3 also, because we can see Rishis (like Vashistar) coming almost in all Puranas.. It means he stayed forever (may be youthful may be old man) but he stayed...
Thayumanavar concludes.....You can do anything of the above in the world (in my opinion, P, NP, only heard) but you can not control your mind..........NOT AT ALL. He hits you straight.. Oophs.
That is why I said in my first reply-STUNNING.. Again I may be wrong in some of my comments. I get more pleasure in reading all your comments than give mine..

To me the "punch line" is wonderful -

i always thought "summa" is a modern colloquial word, its kinda nice to see it in a scholarly composition !
One of those words so hard to translate into non-Indian languages (in fact I cant even translate to hindi -- a close would be 'chupke raho' ?)

Some meanings for summA:
1. Just like that (summAttAn vandEn)
2. free (summA kuDuttAn)
3. very often (if you double the word: summA summA tondaravu seyyAdE; also summA summA varumO sugam song)
4. idle talk/gratis remark (summA sollappaDadu)
5. stay silent (summA iru)
maybe more....
and then there is summADu (turban).... just kidding!

Yes, Sumne in Kannada is same as Summa...
Continuing the Virutham, Sanjay sings "Angai Kodumalar". Searching in Google, I see it is Thiruppugazh. But I searched in Kaumaaram.com and I could not find. My friend says it is not Thiruppugazh as it neither ends with Perumale and nor mentions Muruga name instead praises Shiva and ends with Dakshinamoorthy.
Again, Please help me whose is this and the lyrics..

I got it at last. It is again Thiruvarutpa only.. Coming under the sub-division of "Chinmayanandham"
I enquired Sri. Omkaranandha swamiji who visited for giving Upanyasam in Tamil on Bhagavath geetha He told me and later, found it in Shaivam.org.

I observe while scanning through various discussions in this forum, there are certain members who go off the track and forget the main issue. Talking something irrelvant outside or at home is different to discussing in a forum of this kind where what we discuss must be useful, to the point and without wastage of time, in useless discussion in the name of humour, of other members coming in quest of Karnatic Music, . Let us exhibit our maturity in discussion, avoiding childish talks, use our prowess in elucidating but not correcting the original saahithyam unless there is a printing mistake and discuss a topic with clarity and confidence only if we have a deep knowledge in what is being sought. This is without offence to anyone.
Coming to the point: Mahakavi had doubt about the use of lion in the poem as well as the 12th line of his meaning. What I have been taught by my father about this is:
"Oru shingam mudhugin me'l koLLalaam" - One can ride on a lion's back
"Thannigaril sidhdhi peRalaam"- Obtain unparallel power of the 8 sidhdhis.
Coming to the point: Mahakavi had doubt about the use of lion in the poem as well as the 12th line of his meaning. What I have been taught by my father about this is:

Yes, without humour, life is bland and boring. But it should be relevant to the flow of the subject as they do while in Kathaakaalakshepam where the performer ensures that he/she comes back to the main issue after that. That's what I have mentioned. Whatever we discuss must be not only relevant but also should not distract us from the main query!vinayo
Nothing wrong with the humour if it free flowing. Don’t we welcome anecdotes said in lighter vein even during serious discourses on Ramayana, Bhagavatham, etc.
Ironically the incessent wandering of the mind is what the great saint is addressing.

[1] summA has many meanings, as other posters have already explained, including 'for free' - in this context the 'payment' is in the form of appropriate effort...
