I reached the concert late, as Smt Swaminathan was wrapping up the bEgaDa AlApanai. The kriti was rendered with a nice round of svarams. Smt Padmavathi's bilahari AlApanai was good. The rare kriti was rendered beautifully with a round of svarams. The sahAnA AlApanai was very moving. The kriti was rendered well, with all the intricate sangatis and the grand cittai svaram. The sAmanta AlApanai and the kriti were nicely rendered.
The main kharaharapriyA AlApanai was nicely rendered. The tAnam was good as well. The kriti was rendered with a lot of nice sangatis and short neraval and a quick round of svarams. The short sketch of bEhAg and the jAvaLi were rendered well.
Smt Swaminathan gave a nice concert. Her AlApanais were crisp and the kritis were weightly rendered. Smt Padmavati was good in providing support. Sri Swaminathan played well with good anticipation.
A really enjoyable concert.

It was a sheer delight to listen to Mami on the Veena. The 60 odd connoisseurs who had assembled were transported to the ethereal heights of limpid classical music. For 2 1/2 hours nothing else existed. Oh, the Sahana and Inkeverannuaru.! Can one forget it for a long time to come.? As the late N M N , the music critic used to write, one can go miles to listen to the Sahana. Blessed were those who were fortunate to be there.
Thodi was expected . But it was a real surprise to hear Karaharapriya. I have not heard it from her for a long time. Perhaps she played it for the reason that S V K , besides Thodi , was fond of that raga. And how she caressed every passage of Natachi, Natacchi.!
Madhirimangalam Swaminathan offered sensitive support all through .
It was the crowning glory to the series of concerts to mark the birthday of S V K. Surely he would have heard the glorious music in his Sushma Sarira. and enjoyed every minute of it.
Very thoughtful of Smt. Jaya, his daughter, to have planned and carried out the excellent series. of concerts. And the care she took to ensure excellent auditory levels was amazing in one new to the task.
