My only problem with her is that she does all this saying that she has inherited them. I would be able to ignore her if she had said taht this is her version of Indian music.

I bought a CD thinking that she is one of the expatriate classical singers. Oh! Forgive me for being rude, She killed compositions of MV, Dikshitar and Thyagaraja. Never touched the CD again

Coolkarni Sir,

Im not really a big fan of fusion, but I was genuinely touched while listening to the example you posted, although was enjoying it more as a western piece than as mOkShamu galadA. More evidence for the idea that all music is divine. I found the following information about this quartet on the internet:

I think this vs narasimhan is the same violinist that played for illayaraja's "how to name it" and the other album - to date, i cannot forget the mayamalavagowla piece - he plays it soooo well.

i think he also played in karaikudi mani sir's 'sruti laya melodies'... speaking of which - there were two albums of s.l.m. i remember listening to about 12 years back. one with 'meghanatiyam' etc. which i think is still commercially available and another which had a really beautiful rendering of the "kamakshi amba" bhairavi swarajati - i can't seem to be able to find the commercial version anymore anywhere - and am left to enjoy only what is left of that distant memory unless of course someone here has that piece - i suppose we are ok with sharing commercial recordings that are out of print??

So does anyone know more about vsn?

aswin ..
thanks.wonder if i am responding to the grandson of TKR?
if yes , pardon me this question.
we take pleasure in knowing that relatives of some great stars are with us here..(GNB, MDR...) and we have a full bunch of TKRangachari fans over here

If no , just ignore this question

Yes it is the Same artist with Illayaraja's team.
If you have watched the video, the artist with the largest violin(wonder what is the technical name for it) is Kunnakkudi's son.
the album you are referring to is RESONANCE.kadanakuthoohala -raghuvamsha,palukavademi in devamanohari-sugunamule in chakravakam-this mokshamu and finally amba kamakshi.
I cannot share commercial recordings , right.
But i can definitely gift you my audio tape .That is not illegal I guess.

CoolKji
The large upside down violin is called a Cello (pronounced chello) - Yo Yo Ma is a renowned cellist.

Not to sound adamant - but the amba kamakshi i am referring to is the one in an album by shruti laya melodies (KRM's) - VS Narasimhan played in it as well - but the swarajati was sung by a group of women/girls - it was so beautifully rendered.

Resonance i presume is the string quartet's album.
