On occasions when my mother used to say a flat No to some of my requests (for some helping of the rava laddu on the top most shelf)
My Grandma used to intervene and say ( Kayyinda Illa annodu bayinda illa anbeda )

The intent was to soften the blow and she would give us a small helping.

In this beautiful and emotional krithi, Saint thyagaraja pays homage to the eternal bliss resulting from the rendering of melodious ragas arising from a judicious combination of the seven notes and even the trinity of Gods,Indra,Subramanya and Ganesha did their upasana by such soulful music.
And believe me, I was deeply moved by the bhava Unnikrishnan brought to the rendering of this immortal song.
I think Unni is a very talented youngster who has yet to fulfil his true potential, may be due to his concentrating more on film songs, which may bring him fame and money, but will do little to establish him as a great carnatic musician.

arasi... IMHO "the best"... after you pick the best from all the artistes... his tempo buildup is fantastic... and incidentally once I was hearing a neraval on the radio and I just guessed it was Dr. Ramanathan singing... and I did not recognize the voice

"Tempo buildup"....what exactly are you referring to? Is it the acceleration in the kAlapramAnam during neraval? If so, then IMHO it's a flaw and definitely not an asset....

Perhaps the word you were looking for was 'intensity' instead of 'tempo'?

mohan... thanks... intensity is good... it sure feels like tempo builds up... may be a slight acceleration in the kala pranamam that bhaktha talks about but not just that...

Sangeetha choodamani and also prospective MA in few years getting his valued image spoiled by his active participation in Vijai tv star singer episodes. His kuththaattam in a costume not suitable for a Sangeetha vidwan down grades his image of a carnatic upcoming musician. In the company of one Half baked and an indecent lady anchors his image is getting totally spoiled. Purely my view. If I am wrong kindly excuse.
