BMK Jr , a young vidwan blessed with a voice weight , started by rendering a rendition of kalyAni which gave a lot of insight of the quality that followed . An excellent rendition of a rare nAttai krithi "ninnE bhajana" was rendered with gusto , his alApanai and the swara patterns were both very good .
His voice weight came out quite well with the tough swarajathi in tOdi(even when the sahityam touches the trough , BMK Jr has a weight in his voice). An elaborate rAga alApanai in bilahari followed ,his neraval in the lines "rokkamicchutakunE mukkaNTi celikAnu"came out very good .The swara patterns were quite good.If there is a noticable weekness in the concert , it was felt in the next 2 krithis . Though he sang both the krithis in Anandabhairavi and kannadA well, he was hardly putting much of tAlam in his thighs for most portions of the song.During those times the tAlam slip of percussionists was noticable and there was a considerable vOttam in kannadA swaram. But whenever he used both hands to put tAlams there was no noticeble slip or vOttam by the percussionists. This observation was not just made by me but also by an elderly rasika who sat next to me.
The hemavAti alApanai was very good , though my ignorance was not allowing me to conclude if the rAga alAapani was a dharmavAti or hemavAti for sure. MD's krithi was rendered very well .
The day's best was his rAga alApanai of KAmbOdhi in the RTP . The tAnam was good , but felt it was not extensively done. Pallavi and swara rAgamAligai were very good. The last number in sindhubhairavi (I think it is AK's) was excellent and the contrast of sindhubhairavi went well with kAmbOdhi
Both the percussionists were just good , their tani was very good. The violinist Smt padma shankar was just excellent to outstanding . Her play excelled as a shadow in nAttai ,showed her vidwat a lot in taking few rAga alApanai patterns in begadA. She also played with essence in kAmbOdhi, keeping the timelines short.

Rajesh,
Not to worry. If you think venkatpv stumps rajesh over and over again, you can hope that new member narendra would take up stumping venkat, the way he fires questions in succession (all in jest)
