Ravikiran sang to a packed audience who stayed till the end of the concert. Here is a promising singer with a lot of bhAvam in his singing and his adherence to the tradition is commendable. Though I am not a competent person to do a technical review of the concert, it was a very pleasing concert and I do see a bright spark in him.

There was a reply to some other post by Arasi:

Quote
TMK has done well in grooming his SishyAs too, I hear.
A friend in Bangalore who attended one of TMK's ShishyA's concert in Banasankari was impressed. 'confident, good voice and powerful presentation', is what I hear. 'Only, the disciple's stage mannerisms remind us very much of the guru', says my friend. For one thing, the guru himself is very young and is very much around. This would make it difficult for the listeners to isolate the chElA from the guru and pay attention to his merits when he sings. A minor thing which the young musician can easily erase.
Why do I go on about it? The young man is none other than our fellow member gravikiran!

Ravikiran,
Congratulations on a very good performance...

Yes. I wrote about this concert in the T.M. Krishna thread here. Rama Lalitha kala mandira, run by the dedicated Krishnaprasad and his sisters, is situated in Banasankari. The family continues their service to music which began with their father seventy five years (?) ago. They also run a music school.
This year, their early spring festival was held in a huge auditorium of a college in nearby Jayanagar--the name of the college eludes me--over a span of several days, starting with Sudha Raghunathan's concert and every performance (Sanjay, Malladi Bros, to name a few) drew hundreds of music lovers...

Nice to see Ravikiran finally getting a concert list on here. A promising singer, a student of Vid RK Srikantan & Sri TM Krishna, his capabilities are top notch.

Bhairavi, Reethigowla and Varali...wow, wish I had been there!

Mahesh33,
Didn't know he learnt from RKS too. Hope I can listen to him when I go to Bangalore or in Chennai if he gets a chance to sing there...

Arasi, Ravikiran is performing in Mumbai on August 25, 2007. If you happen to be in Mumbai on that day, you may plan to attend. :)

Varalakshmeem Bhajare - Sourashtra - Adi
Narasimha Agachcha - Mohana - Misra Chapu
Himagiri Kumari - Ravikriya - Adi
Sri Ramam - Narayanagowla - Adi

I heard the Ravikriya krithi for the first time here.

G.Ravikiran,s concert was at Ramalalitha kala mandir last week was a memorable one.Th e voice was so pleasing and the modulations here and there made the concert very interesting which many of his colleaguesshould learn from him. Even though there is not much of ,Kanakku, the swarams fall at the correct place with easy flow so much so the rasikas really enjoy the fluencyof the music and the rythymlike a river .The jesticulations during the concert sho wn by Ravikiran is not new because of the new master but he has got this already and without these jesticulations one coul,d not sing with relaxed feelings.
