It was a melodious beautiful concert by Gurucharan keeping the audience mesmerised with his melodious voice for full 3 and half hours with good selection of songs not heard frequently.
He started with varnam and went on till Mangalam in the 3 and half hour concert in full form keeping the attention of audience fully.
Alaapanai was done for Mukhari /Ranjani beautifully and crisply.
Girpriyam and Nagabharanam were sung melodiously in fast pace.
The Todi alaapanai was a joy to hear followed by the new song which some of us heard for first time I guess. Some of the audience were expecting Kartikeya kaangeya but he announced the name of the composer and sang masterly .The Thani followed crisply with both Skanda subramaniam and Purushotaman in perfect coordination which was a joy to hear.
The highlight of the RTP were the words .He sang beautifully the ragam and tanam
In pallavi while singing Sama Gaana he suddenly became silent for the words mridanga and left space for mridangist to fill the words 'Mridanga " in mridangam and Skanda subramaniam responded beautifully .It gave a magical effect and was appreciated by the audience with lot of sabaash.
The swaram was done breifly in shriranjani and Varali .He could have been more elaborate but it was already past 10 pm and guess it was the reason for a short swarams.
The viruttam was a beautiful one from Bharatiyar I guess and followed it up with Chinajiru kiliye. The highlight again was unheard verses from the song not sung generally .The nilambari piece especially was beautiful.
A wonderful cracker of a concert ably supported by Skandasubramaniam and Purushotaman. The violin was at times a bit sketchy complaining of sound problems initially but was covered up beautifully by Gurucharan's masterly singing and Skandasubramaniam and Purushottaman's support..
This is my first attempt at reviewing so I need members guidance and advises.
