Hi all,

I was a part of the Sangeetham forum and have been a silent spectator here folllowing the discussions and learning a lot too!!

I believe this Raaga has not been discussed here.

I have heard 2 compositions in this raaga -durmaargachara (MMI Classic) & sadaa saaranga nayane.

Also heard the Rudrapatnam brothers deal with the former composition with great gusto.

Would like to know if there are other compositions of the emotional raagam or if any artist has dealt with this raagam expansively. I have heard that MMI in his younger years has presented an RTP on this raagam. Anyone aware of this fact or in possession of this singular rendition?

You should definitely listen to G.N.Balasubramaniam's "Ranjani Niranjani" - it's been rendered by modern artists, but I'm sure yesteryear artists have rendered it too.

sadA sAranganayanE that has been mentioned is a lovely composition of H.Yoganarasimham. Its ciTTeswara is very lilting. MSS has rendered it in one of the commercial cassettes. This is a set of Yoganarasimaham's compositions

M Santhanam has sung this kriti in a Sangeetha release ( I think now it is HMV) called Vasudevachar Kritis.

Yes I have. It has been sung by Maharajapuram Santhanam. It is by Vidyaprasanna Tirtha.

Coolji and Raju Sir-Thanks. Lakshman-I also heard this fr Mah.s. only. That cassette starts with Paluguthe Nenadhalli of Annamacharya in Bhimplas. Excellant rendition. Could you give me the lyrics of this ? I have posted a separate req in the relevant section..
