hi,
many of kruthis sung by saint thyagaraja has talam chapu talams... why is this so. did he really use them or people later modified them according to their requirement.

Shri Syama sastry was considered to be an exponent of this talam, often even using the vilOma cApu. Thyagabrahmam definitely did compose kritis in cApu thAlam (both kandam and misram). Why?? For the same reason he composed kritis in Adi thalam 
I mean...what is so special about the use of cApu?? the thalam was in vouge during his period and there's no reason why he shouldn't have composed kritis in cApu. Do you have a reason to believe that the thala structure for his kritis have changed since his time? If so, please substantiate.
