It is her doctrate thesis submitted to TRS that kicked up a huge controversy and almost lead to the boycot of YRS from the Carnatic Stage at Chennai.......

What was the thesis about?

Her thesis was widely reported in Sruti magazinbe around 10 years back. I think it was about epoch makers in carnatic music and passed comment about the music of several vidwans. Some of those comments were not entirely complementary and hence the uproar in the music community. I think Prof TRS was her guide (or was he an examiner?).

Yes, it was a controversial thesis. My understanding of the situation is that Radha Venkatachalam reflected the opinions of her guru (TRS) in her thesis. At least that was what I read somewhere. I understand it was submitted to Delhi University where TRS was a professor of music for a long time.

yes, she is a disciple of TRS and the thesis was submitted under his guidance. Not only were the references not complimentary, many of them had no relevance to the music of the musicians and passed judgement on their personal lives. Some also felt it was unethical on Sruti Pattabhiraman's part to have published excerpts from the thesis while it was still being examined. There were reports of 'yellow journalism' against Sruti.
