I am told, this year, through out the month concerts are being held and new faces are giving performances here in this Kali Temple.

I had the opportunity of visiting the temple some time in April'04. It has good cerene atmosphere. The kali idol looks great.

At times, new performers from unknown corners do make some good impact. Some of our members may have listened to them. Any feedback / reviews?

Yes, the temple is gr8. But no good/popular artists' concerts are being held. More so, it is situated at an extreme corner. To reach out itself, it would take some good time. Nevertheless, a better avenue than most of the other venues at T.Nagar (eg. Ayodhya Mandapam).

Ayodhya Mandapam is right in the heart of West Mambalam, not T. Nagar

Sankirnam sir,

Thanks for pointing out the mistake. Ayodhya Mandapam Fesivtal remains ever in the heart's of rasikas (barring the roadside disturbances).

Sindhu Madam,

Without visiting any of the concerts, one can not say Kali Bari Festival is not having 'good' artists' programme. They may not be popular, but there is no dearth of talents as far as new faces are concerned. I still feel you should make it to the venue. endarO mahAnubhAvulu...

sekhar,
It is good to hear about such venues which bring in new musicians. Not being popular does not mean they are not good!
At least, the locals who are free and would like to see how the new talents are shaping up can just walk in, and if they are not pleased, walk out! What I am trying to say is that there could be young talents which go unnoticed because they are not written about. Even an extra listener could make a difference to the performers. If you are not impressed, you could always slip out of the hall.

We do have members like Sindhu, who look for only popular artists. Tastes vary enormously. But today's unpopular artists may become tomorrow's popular artists and that time the tones and tunes would be different !!!

i played for smt. radha ramji, a disciple of shri t.k.govindha rao at kaLi bAri on 14th august. [kAraikkAl venkatasubhramaNiam, disciple of shri t.n.krishNan]she sang kalyAni and also sang an awesome ambA nIlAmbari in viLamba kAlam. we had a decent crowd. i think the organisers don't pay for any artiste and the singers have to bring their accompaniments. artistes who are interested may contact shri niranjan at the office.

Erode,
I enjoyed your asides on TNS concert review. In the right sabha (I mean, musquito ridden), people would have vied to sit next to you with your 'repellent' anointed hair!

mosquitoes are welcome, if they can produce a ringing at g# or c, depending upon the vocalist's sruthi..... [:D]
