Aishwarya gave an excellent performance for YACM in spite of a late start due to a power cut and a bad mike setup which goes with the territory.

Here is an incomplete and approximate list of songs:

1. Ananda Bhairavi Ata tala varnam
3. Brihannayaki, Andali, Dikshitar
4. Parama pavana, Mandari, Thyagaraja (Alapana)
5. Karu baru, Mukhari, Thyagaraja (Alapana)
6. Todi (Alapana)

Some observations:

1. The choice of ragas and kritis was quite daring for a young performer and Aishwarya acquitted herself admirably.

2. Andali is another raga in the mix of Madhyamavati, Manirangu and Shree. I am hearing this raga for the first time and would love to hear a more detailed exposition.

3. Mandari was rendered excellently without tresspassing or even reminding the listener of the allied ragas by both the singer and the violinist Arunchalam Karthik.

4. Aishwarya would do better to learn to use the mike better - by sitting closer and not straying away from it unnecessrily. This is esp. necessary in a hall like Sastry hall.

5. Late Sri SVK would have loved this concert.

Suresh,
Thank you. It would be nice if you post the names of the accompanists too before the start of the review.
