Hi all,
I have been visiting the Mutt for the SreeGuruvayorappan Bajan Trust concerts in the last one week. There was an RTP by Nithyasree yesterday on kannada ranjini. I left after this but probably she sang till 930pm and she came early and started the concert at 5.55pm. Sincerity. Rarely artists take such ragas.
Her main piece was mathymavathi Everi cheri rama. Mandolin U srinivas did an excellent main piece of shunmugapriya. What is the pallavi and song?
So far I liked Sudha and Nithyasree concerts for their concert planning. Offcourse I liked Dhanyasi piece by TMK, Simmendra madhimum by TNS.
Sudha Raghunathan also performed RTP on Todi , it was innovatively done with swaras on all Oothukadu venkata subbaier songs and an outline of the songs too.
But wondering what happened to TMK, Sikkil , Usrinivas and TNS concert planning? Why can't they plan for RTP?
It is OK if it extends beyond 9PM, interested people will stay back. Artists comes an average of three times in a year , unlike chennai where they present concert more often. They should be advised to perform RTP by sponcers. People will find ways to reach home. I once saw Sanjay telling Ramesh to shorten speech as he has to perform RTP at Odukatur mutt last year.
I was surprised at TMK choosing Chakkani raja as the main piece. It was an excellent redition. But I felt little disappointed at teh song selection. I am sure he is trying to reach the mass. I was thinking after the karakara priya alapana that he shouldnot do rama neeyada or ramanee samana meru. But I never expected chakkani raja, the most common piece. Actaully after the speech he was in a dillema whether to deliver an RTP as we can make out his second thoughts and looks like he decided to skip.
Speech by UKS can be made short. He gives good speeches but can be made short. Karikudi Mani's speech was nice and short.
Speech of Ramesh swami is much shorter now a days, thanks. I think speech about Unnati and shiksha are inevitable. I think he has to use the best time for this after the thani. They have their own compulsions.

Dear Rajglan,
On chakkani raja , I agree with you. We had been listening to too many of them in the recent past in Bangalore. The first concert of this series at Odukathur Mutt, had Priya Sisters singing the same and within couple of days, TMK too goes for the same. Earlier this year, there wasone by Saketharaman, Rudrapatnam Brothers at Fort School, TNS at the Nadasurabhi concert... but, I like to hear them anyway.
I guess, certain organisers ask them to include RTP in the concert. Gayana Samaja concerts had 2 beautiful RTPs by Sanjay and Malladi Brothers.

Braindrain, Thanks for the details.
Does anyone know songs in karna ranjani. I have heard in tukkada section by B Jaysree , "deena saranyanae, devaki balanae" in one of her concert. Any Mummurthy's krithis, or harikesavanallur krithis or Swathi tirunal krithis or any main piece krisits in this raga?
