As usual the concert was well planned and executed. Raga elaboration in Chakravaham and Shanmukhapriya was pleasing and, the same for Kambodhi was scholarly.
Kritis in Mukhari and kambodhi were always welcome in any concert by discerning audience and it is not different in this concert also as evidenced by audience reaction at the end of songs of respective ragas. Though RTP was not rendered which is the artist’s forte, Pallavi lovers had been satisfied by the neraval in “ Manasija Koti Koti Lavanyaya….Shri “ In kambodhi Kriti and the swara passages that followed,in trikalam.
One could not help feeling that full impact of the niceties in kritis in general and particularly those in Chakravaham, Sahana and Shanmukhapriya could not be realized because of the overpowering decibal levels of percussion instruments.
