There was a break after the thani for releasing some CDs of Annamacharya's krithis that were recently discovered and set to tune by Nedunuri sir and sung by Malladi Brothers.

Sankirnam,
Awesome! Three concerts in a row in California and you have attended them all? Thanks for the song lists.
The choice of tamizh songs by telugu singers interests me. They have sung one in every concert. Sivan's nAn oru viLaiyAATTu bommaiyA? which of course is Nedunuri's favorite. ADum cidambaramO? in the second and sEvikka vENDUm in the third. A different one in each. Hopefully they will sing even more songs during their tour without repeating just the three of them. Two of Purandara Dasa in the lists. One more in the third concert too, I guess (list not complete). A variety of telugu kritis (T, Annamacharya and Ramadas) and MD of course.
I like their rendering of SringAra lahari (nIlAmbari).

I had attended an interesting concert a couple of years ago where they rendered all the compositions in 29 mela with shankarabharanam as main. Inspite of that every piece sounded different.
It included dEvagandhari when I thought it was Arabhi and a couple of song later they also sang Arabhi!!!
And the Kurai Onrum millai -Thamizh was very good (the only non 29 mela)

arasi ma'am,
As far as I know, the Malladis Brothers sing one tamizh piece in almost all their concerts. Some others that they have presented are Idadhu padam thookki, Parvati Nayakane, Karpagambike, and I recently saw a songlist that featured a Thiruppugazh (kaaranamadhaaga I think). Sometimes they substitute a devarnama with an annamacharya song, but they almost always have one tamizh song in their list (usually papanasam sivan's kritis).
And they always have one Dikshitar kriti (including weighty ones like navavarnams or Sri Subrahmanyaya Namaste) in the list, which is nice. In this regard, they seem to be a little more catholic than Nedunuri Garu, who sometimes/many a time would have no Dikshitar or Syama Sastri kritis in his concerts.

When I listen to Nedunuri or Voleti, I am looking to listen to krithis from their core expertise - Thyagaraja, Badrachala Ramdas, Annamacharya. ...
Now, there is this notion of a balanced concert in terms of composers and languages - Tamil krithi and a Purandaradasa krithi must be sung.
I prefer renditions of some of these tamil krithis by other singers, and Neduniri's version of Emayya Rama (Kamboji), and ... is the best.

Mysore Vasudevacharya's "Iti Samayamu brova" in Natakapriya used to feature in Nedunuri Sir's concert. I'm not sure if he has sung a RTP in this raga. There is a KGS concert (available commercially) in which this piece is rendered. This is a outstanding rendition with Lalgudi/Sivaraman as the accompanists. This concert also includes the Muripemu in Mukhari.Jigyaasa wrote:nATakapriyA strikes me as an alluring rAga... An RTP in it must have been MORE than just music to the ears ( literally and figuratively) Any recordings by any chance? (assuming of course that they permit it)
