Thank you very much for the prompt response. I am looking for specific ragas and keerthanas done by Guru Thyagaraja, which can be played by the nadaswara team during various rituals of the marriage. If you can tell me in detail, it will be a great favour.

Dear Vid|| Ashok Ramani:
It is very nice to have you participate inour discussions. A very warm welcome. But first
I tried to visit your website www.shivanisai.com
Immediately I got a Virus Alert from my Norton stating that it is infected with the 'downloader' Virus. I am posting this warning for all to know. Do please take steps to clear the problem at your site

I did not get a virus alert but I got an Active-X control alert. IE blocked it and asked if I should run that control or not.

Ashok, hope you will take it the right way, the site looks very busy, there is horizontal scrolling, vertical scrolling and flashing pictures, blinking letters and all that. It is hard on the eyes to stay at the site to read what looks like good content.

My browser identified the file to be 'index.htm' which was first loaded into the temorary Folder. As it was scanned by Nortan it detected the 'downloader' virus which is nasty and cannot be removed. Hence Norton simply deleted the file with information to me. It is possible if you do not have adequate updated protection the file may slip through and cause havoc!
Be warned

Ashok: There is still a problem. This time I got a virus alert for the JSPsyme virus.

If you want to check it out yourself, install this free AVG anti-virus program on your computer and access your site: http://www.savemybutt.com/downloads/avg75free.exe

and pester your web designer until AVG is happy on your computer.

My virus scanner didn't pick it up anything this time.

I echo an earlier comment about the page being too 'busy' - too many things scrolling and moving.

I agree with Mohan above that although the website itself is replete with content, it has too many moving/flashing/changing objects which is a bit distracting and painful for the eye. Maybe its also the colors?

I am in Mumbai.I am unable to locate any good teacher in the western suburbs. Can someone guide me? I am looking for a MALE teacher because I do not think it is ok for a male to learn from a female teacher due to the shruti difference.

Uh huh...that happens to be true...anyone who is willing to face the tomatoes along with Prashant at the proposed rasikas concert is welcome to the violin! Sharmaji, get in touch with Shanmukhananda Sabha in Matunga - they can help you find a suitable teacher.

Hi,
I am Ramnath from Melbourne, a vainika and a disciple of Shri R. Pichumani and Shri R.Venkataraman. I was active in the sangeetham forum for some years until its demise. Was introduced to raiskas.org by some friends. It is wonderful to see so many educative posts and healthy discussions. Hope to participate as well.
Best regards
Ramnath

Hello, I am ANU and have joined just a few days back. I know a little bit of music but just love it. My knowledge of portals is very bad. Can you explain to me what is this 'thread' and 'sticky thread' that I am always reading about? Also, I know this question is very stupid but how do we chat on line in the forum? For example, I see a lot of questions and anwers coming back and forth at the same time. which means that the members on line are actually communicating through the site like a chat. How is this done? Can somebody explain please?

ANU, welcome to the forum. There is no live chat facility here. What you see is people replying to other's posts or people starting a thread ( or topic ) in the appropriate sub-forum. Normally when someone posts something to a thread, it is at the top and other threads are pushed down. So threads with no new postings for a while will go down in the list and then on to the other pages. On the other hand, a sticky thread is one which is always at the top.

Hello
I am a new member here again.
I used to enjoy my stint here until a few months ago, when I felt disillusioned with the concept of Ghost members (members whose identities are not known)-some of them who preferred to complain against my uploads(here) to outsiders –rather than alert me ( to withdraw the offending track.)
I had always uploaded stuff here in a spirit of spreading a good thought and the occasional transgression into copyright world was always accidental.

I am a new member here again.
While I will strive to use tracks in a more discerning manner – to understand Indian Music- with all its complexities, I would feel comfortable if members would prefer to alert me first , in case they find a track violating an artist’s rights.
My email Id [email protected] would be ever ready to respond to such feedback.

Vijay, Nick,Govindan,Jananee,Prashanth,Bhaktha,Ninja and so many others who missed me , and have wished me a speedy recovery….
Thanks for everything.

Since the forum has settled down with some working understanding of all these issues and is moving on merrily with discussions without any controversies, I sincerely appeal to you all not to discuss the subject of my exit and re-entry as well as the issue of copyrights in the context of what happened to me.
