bAratiyAr's 'ninnayE rati enRu ninaikkiREnaDi'.

The song list in most part is his father's.

Of course, Lakshman. I was thinking ninnayE and typed unnaiyE! I have corrected my previous post now.
Like many of his verses, this one is also not sung in the original rAgA (SankarAbharaNam). madhuvanti is another version.

Lakshman-ji, I've indicated a few changes that I think need to be made.

P: ninnaiyE rati enru ninaikkirEnaDi kaNNammA tannaiyE sakhi enru sharaNam eidinEn
C1: ponnaiyE nigartta mEni minnaiyE nigartta sAyal-pinnaiyE nitya kanniyE kaNNammA
C2: mAran ambugaL en mIdu vAri vAri vIsa nI kaN pArAyO vandu sErAyO kaNNammA
C3: yAvumE sukamunikkOr IshanAm enakkun tOTram mEvumE ingu yAvumE kaNNammA

I might be wrong though, so maybe arasi-ji can confirm the lyrics.

nivedita: Thanks for the correction.
Doesn't shAyal pinnaiyE in conjunction become shAyarp-pinnaiyE? I may be wrong here.

Yes, of course. sAyal + pinnaiyE = sAyarppinaiyE. There is no equivalent letter to samskrit shA in Tamil. It is only sa or sA depending on context. Hence, in the above song sharaNam also should be saraNam. The samskrit words saraNam and CharaNam are different and have two different meanings, but in Tamil they can both be written only as saraNam and hence are mispronoiunced by many.

unnaiyE and ninnaiyE do mean the same thing, the latter word sounds more emphatic, IMHO.

Yes that is the one that he sang. I did hear it as ninnayE but I thought I heard it wrong. There were lots of chits requesting songs. This is the first time that I saw so many requests. He could not entertain all of them. He said he will come back for a second concert to complete the requests.

From my restricted knowledge, I think they both mean "you only".

Thanks to Lakshman and Nivedita for the lyrics. I cannot the confirm the lyrics as I don't pay attention to the words as much as the tune. So please pardon me. However, I can definitely confirm that the beginning words were the same.

Sundararajan said it. minnaiyE (lightening) nigartta (like) Sayal (resemblance)--pinnaiyE (young woman)!
like a flash of lightening you are, young woman (pinnaiyE)!
so, SAyaRpinnaiyE is correct too, as Lakshman says.

nivedita,
Also, it is not saki but SaSi (indrANi), as in lakshman's version.

ramakriya, the 'ninna' (nin in tamizh) which is there in kannaDA can be found in tamizh too. It is not in usage, that's all. You would find it even in modern poetry.
