Dikshitar Day 2007 @ Sacramento, CA

The folks of Sacramento witnessed yet another wonderful day of music and culture, dedicated to Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar. This was held on the 27th of Oct, at the Hinde Auditorium in Sacramento State University. The stage was set artistically, with a wonderful picture of Ambal and a vigraham of Muthuswami Dikshitar in panchaloham.

The event began with an invocation consisting of the well-known Vatapi ganapatim (Hamsadhwani), the Navagraha kriti Srisukra (Paras) and the Navavaranam, Kamalambam (Anandabhairavi).

The tradition here in Sacramento during such events is to have the concert in the morning and the individual singing in the afternoon. The artiste of the day was Kiranavali Vidyasankar, who gave a blissful concert, wonderfully supported by Sacramento’s pride, Kesav Raghavan on the violin and Ramesh Srinivasan on the mridangam. The concert featured a rich collection of the gems of Dikshitar, and included a wide gamut of ragas.

Isn't Anandanatanaprakasam a composition on the Akasa-linga since it is on the presiding deity at Chidambaram?

Thanks for your comments. Yep, you are right...It is Akasa linga and Vayu-linga's composition is Shri Kalhastisa
