Krishnaa : Though my Kannada understanding is pitiably less, since the idea conveyed in this song is familiar, here is my go:

indina dinavE shubha dinavu - this day is the goodand auspicious day
indina vAravE shubhavAra - this day-of-the-week is the good and auspicious day
indina tAreye shubha tAre - today's star is the good and auspicious star
indina yOgave shubha yOga - this yOga (conjunction of planets?) is the good and auspicious yOga
indina karaNave shubha karaNa - today's karaNa is the
good and auspicious one
( the last two are astrological calculations which I am not too sure about - vAra,nakshatra, tithi,yOga and karaNa - these five "angas" or components are explained in the "pancha-angam" ie almanac)

indu purandara viTTalarAya sandarushana phalavemagAyitu = for the fruitful vision (darshan) of Lord Purandara Vitthala

There is a Tamil verse with a similar sentiment
"nanRe seyga nanRum inRe seyga, inRum innE seyga " etc - ie, do good, that too today, that too now!

In Sanskrit too there is a subhAshitam "ajarAmaratAm prAptah..." which means "When you pursue artha and kAma ( material progress or desires) go about as if you are blessed with eternal youth and immortality. But when you pursue dharma and mOkSa, act as if death has already caught you by the neck, ie waste no time"

Corrections welcome.

Thanks, Rajani for the goodies!

The last line in the song: indu=today; emagAyitu=is ours

Rajani: Can you please provide all the lines of sanskrit shloka/subhashitam that you quoted: "ajarAmaratAm prAptah..." Thanks.

rrao: Here it is
ajarAmaravatprAGYo vidyAmartham ca sAdhayet |
gRhIta iva kesheShu mRtyunA dharmamAcaret ||

Krishnaa : On reflecting upon arasi's corrections, I think the meaning shd read "today is good day etc BECAUSE today the darshan of the lord became ours" and not as I understood it first ie "today is a good day , so waste no time to get darshan of the lord"
