Sri T M Krishna -Vocal
Dr Mysore Manjunath-Violin
Sri Arjun Kumar- Mridangam
Sri N Amrit- Kanjira
List of Songs
1) JagadAnandakArakA- Nattai- Thyagaraja
2) Sri MAtrubhootam -Kannada- Muthuswami Dikshitar (R,S)
3) Kshitija Ramanan- Devagandhari-Muthuswami Dikshitar
4) Seethapate- Khamas-Thyagaraja
5) Badalika Dheera- Reethigowlai- thyagraja (RNST)
(Neraval @ SAkEta rAmA, sarva bHoumA)
6) Slokam- mOulu ganga shashanka.....-Ragamalika in Nadanamakriya, Sahana, Dhanyasi, Sama
7) VAruvAr- Sama-???
8) Sindhubhairavi- Venkatachala Nilayam- Purandara Dasa
9) Jaanero- Khamas (Javali)- Poochi Sriniasa Iyengar(???)
10) Amba Neelayatakshi- Neelambari-MD
11)Thillana-???-????
Sri Krishna got off to an electric start with the pancharatna kriti and followed it with a short but sweet alapana of kannada. He touched on all the salient points of the raga. A not-so-often- heard Kshitija Ramanan follwed. Krishna's voice and style of singing is ideally suited for the slow paced chuka kala kritis of Dikshitar and this was amply borne out in the devagandhari kriti
A super fast Seethapate followed
Then came the main kriti of the evening. A leisurely alapana weaving the beauty of reetigowlai. His voice being in fine shape, Krishna was able to effortlessly traverse all three octaves. His sancharas in the taara sthayi involving phrases SGRGM, PMGRS invoked aprreciation form the audience.
Just as we were speculating the kriti, Krishna chose a rare one of Thyagaraja- Badalikadhira.
which I am hearing for the first time. Neraval was done at sAketa rama, sarva BHouma.
Dr Manjunath's accompanying was first class, following the main artiste closely and occasionally showing flashes of brilliance in his individual essays. There was a point during the kannada alapana when towards the close, he stressed on the madhyama which was too good.
The tukkadas section was well balanced. he began with a rendition of a slokam in ragamalika and then broke off in the middle to explain the meaning to the audience. Venkatachala Nilayam and Amba Neelayatakshi were rendered on audience request.
All in all , a very satisfying concert.

Hi Srinidhi
The Piece rendered by T.M.Krishna in Reethigowla
Badalika Dheera- Reethigowlai would sound great but
i feel you havent heard of GNB rendering this kriti.
If my words or comments had hurt any please forgive me.
I just felt like commenting on this piece.
I didnt say anything wrong abt TMK's rendering of this composition.
Regards
Krishna

Bit confused by this thread, which refers to TM Krishna's concert exactly a year ago, at Nadasurabhi in Koramangala, Bangalore. krishna212001 and rbharath appear to have had a late burst of energy to join this thread.
The only reason I brought this up is to inform members of this forum that TMK will once again be performing at Nadasurabhi this week on November 17 in a series that will also feature Prof. T.N. Krishnan on November 13, Vijay Siva on the 14th, Sowmya on the 15th, Sanjay on the 16th, Maharajapuram Ramachandran on the 18th, Dance programme by Manasi Prasad on the 19th, followed by a screening of the documentary film, 'Aaraar Aasaipadaar', featuring Sanjay Subrahmanyan.
Programmes will commence on all days at 6 pm, and the venue will be the Coference Hall, St. John's Hospital Campus, 100 ft. Road, Koramangala, Bangalore.

Bharath,
No harm done. That 'late burst of energy' can catch on, and as all of you chennai reviewers have been inspired to post many a review of late, hopefully the bengaLUru brethren would follow suit in bringing us plenty of reviews too...
