yes, I too remember this tamil song that I first heard in a tamil movie , in the days of singing stars, sung by s. varalakshmi or was it banumathi , in Arabhi rAga, I have not heard it since and I too would be thankful for the lyrics.

The song Shri Saraswati Namostute- - - amba sakala loka nayaki is from the movie Miss malini. Actor gemini Ganesan. Acted ang sung by Pushpavalli. Year 1947. Based on R.K. Narayan's novel" sampath. With all these information I am not getting the lyrics. See whether you can help. kanaka

Yes, from Miss. Malini (not to do with RKN's novel). Yes, Pushpavalli, Gemini Ganesan and Sundari Bai.
There is an Arabhi song in tamizh--jagamE oru chittira
SAlai, janani parASakti tiuvaruL lIlai. I have a vague feeling Sri sarasvati namOstutE is also sung (fully? party?) in the film.
CML, others of golden years club, any idea?

I distinctly remember the movie "miss mAlini" ( an off-shoot of the "chandralEkA" of legendary s.s.vAsan) , the movie debut of "gemini" ganEsan. Even today my brother and I refer to any momentous point of any event such as the mAngalyadhArNam of a wedding as the "mAlinikkattam" from the movie ! I do remember the songs "mylApUr vakkilAthu mAttuppoNNAvEn, vaikAsi Ani mAtham kutRAlam pOvEn"", "thalaivalikkoru mAthirai, thadumanukkoru mAthirai, thavaruthalApOttukkitA darumalOga yAthirE ". However, I do not believe that the song "sri saraswathi namOsthuthE" is from that movie or was sung by Pushpavalli. It was of a date later than 1947, after my high school . Unfortunately, I don't remember the movie or the lyrics.
